The Navy Clothing and Textile Research Facility (NCTRF), located in Natick, MA performs all aspects of research, development, testing and evaluation of Navy uniforms and protective clothing. Our goal is to provide Navy sailors with uniforms and protective clothing ensembles that are functional, affordable, and durable.
In the area of uniforms, our work includes development and evaluation; anthropometrics and sizing; certification and quality assurance; and pattern and prototype development.
Our protective clothing mission includes firefighting and flame resistant clothing; anti-exposure suits; ballistic helmets and vests; chemical/biological protection ensembles; burn injury assessment; life vests; and various other protective equipment.
NCTRF's highly experienced staff includes textile technologists, clothing designers, engineers, physical scientists, quality specialists, supply specialists, and laboratory technicians.
Our role extends beyond the Naval community to other military services, other government agencies, academia and industry.
